Mrs. Turner-Moffatt is a Professional Consultant in the field of Environmental Health and Safety. Her motto is “EH&S is my passion”. Her handle is “The Safety Diva”. Raised in Harlem, NY, Crystal has broken down barriers in the construction industry as a safety professional and business owner. Crystal is proud to be a woman of color in this male-dominated industry. She is extremely knowledgeable and has extensive expertise in the fields of Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, Construction Safety Management, Corporate Compliance, Toxicology, Bioterrorism Preparedness, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Research, and Development. She has had more than 20 years of experience in the health and safety field in multifaceted environments.
Crystal is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Senior Construction Safety Manager, Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) & Senior Loss Control Consultant with a 20+ year record of success overseeing all areas of safety on multimillion-dollar construction, infrastructure, environmental, health and safety projects for government, insurance, and private-sector clients. She has experience managing crews and subcontractors of 150+ during bridge improvements, Lead/Asbestos/PCB abatements, clean water, and wastewater plant upgrades, HAZWOPER initiatives, and a variety of other construction/demolition projects. She has a strong knowledge of OCIPS and CCIPS and Loss Prevention Risk Assessment. Her knowledge is backed by strong credentials and a proven history of safe, efficient, and high-quality project safety over-site. Mrs. Turner-Moffatt is a Doctoral candidate at Capitol Technology University and studied in the Master of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (EOHS) program at Hunter College-CUNY. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University, and a Bioterrorism Preparedness Certificate from Hunter College CUNY. In addition, Crystal is certified as a Workplace Safety Consultant with the NYS Department of Labor. She is experienced & Pre-authorized to work as a Site Safety Representative and Consultant for NYC DEP, NYC MTA, TBTA, US ACE, and Port Authority of NY & NJ. She is experienced with behavior-based safety and zero-tolerance initiatives. Crystal is an OSHA Outreach Instructor for Construction.
Crystal is CEO of the Safety firm CDT EHS Consulting LLC, a hard-working consulting practice she established in 2007. CDT EHS Consulting LLC provides a “Bridge to Safety Success” for their clients. They hit the ground running with a direct approach to finding safety solutions for customer pain points. CDT EHS Consulting LLC focuses on Construction Clients and is MWBE certified by NYC Small Business Services (SBS) (NYS, PANYNJ pending). She recently was Director of Safety for Waters Construction. She is the former Safety and Security Manager for The Walk Bridge Project for WSP, formerly Parsons Brinkerhoff in the New Haven and Norwalk offices. Mrs. Turner-Moffatt was the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Director at Haider Engineering P.C. where she was also responsible for safety business development and marketing. Her expertise includes an innate ability to plan and implement EHS programs that ensured full compliance with corporate/company policies and procedures. In addition, she is gifted with outstanding and effective oral and written communication skills. This “Safety Diva™” is a people person that can utilize her unique skill set to create or foster a better “Safety Culture” for her clients. Mrs. Turner-Moffatt is detail-oriented, meticulous, maximizing, and fully utilizing her strong safety background. These qualities make her very resourceful and able to prioritize and multi-task on her projects to get them to completion. She has excellent teaching and training skills that allow her to be a professional specialist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of HASP’s, SOP’s, written safety programs, and training modules. She prides herself on being able to take initiative to improve performance and production while -maintaining environmental health and safety goals. She strives to maintain a “Zero Tolerance” for “Unsafe Acts” in the workplace or worksite.
Crystal enjoys networking and keeps abreast of safety knowledge through membership in national organizations such as The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), Black Women in Science and Engineering (BWISE), Professional Women In Construction (PWC), U.S. Coalition of Black Women Businesses (USCBWB), National Association of Black Women in Construction (NABWIC)(Nuts and Bolts Workshop Panelist 2019), and The Society of Toxicology (SOT).
She has served as a Board Member of The AIHA Consultant Special Interest Group (2007-2008). She is a very devoted Full Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSP) (2006-Present) President and Board Member of the Hudson River Valley Chapter of ASSP (Platinum Chapter) and their Chapter WISE and BISE Chair and Social Media Chair (2013-Present). She is the present Blacks in Safety Excellence (BISE) National Administrator (Assistant Administrator (2018-2019) and Membership Chair (2015-2019). She was nominated for BISE SPY 2018. Advisory Board Construction Practice Specialty (CPS) Member at Large (2016). In addition, she attended the 2016 ASSE, 2019 ASSP Leadership Conference. She was a concurrent session speaker at Safety 2018, the ASSE Professional Development Conference San Antonio, Texas. “Women in Construction: Case Studies on Health, Safety and Workplace Culture”. She is the 2019 WISE Safety Professional of the Year (SPY), WISE Mentor 2019, WISE Mentor 2018 Award Winner. Crystal is the author of the Best Practices Article “The Power of Mentorship-Strengthening Women in Leadership Roles” found in The American Society of Safety Professional (ASSP) Professional Journal of Safety (PSJ) August 2019 issue. Crystal is the ASSP Foundation Greater Boston Chapter Leadership Award: $2,500 and the ASSP Foundation ASSP Region VIII Scholarship: $3,000 (total scholarships: $5,500).
Crystal was a Speaker/Panelist/Event Partner NY Build Expo 2018-2020. In 2018 she spoke on the topic: “Safety Cop to Safety Coach-Tools for the Journey to Becoming an Effective Safety Professional” . She was a Women in Construction Award Finalist (2019). On March 4th, 2020 she spoke at NY Build at a workshop entitled “The Safety Diva’s Guide to Maintaining a Positive Safety Culture”. Crystal has served on panels such as: The Health and Safety Summit (Health and Safety in NY Construction), MWBE Networking, Diversity, Humans and Women in Construction (2018-2020). She was featured in the Humans in Construction Exhibit and was a Diversity Facilitator and Ambassador (2020). From 2018 -2020 CDT EHS Consulting LLC has been a NY Build Event Partner. On March 4th, 2020 she was also a panelist/speaker for a Networking Event for Women in Construction Week sponsored by The Premier Group (Women in Leadership Roles-The Power of Mentorship). She is very social media savvy and was listed by Firmatek as a Top Workplace Safety Expert to Follow on Linked in and Twitter (2017) (Firmatek) She is the founder of The Linked in Group Women in Environmental Health & Safety with over 7000 members (2009-Present) and The Construction Safety Group with over 2000 members.

She was awarded the 2009 Professional Development Grant for CHST Preparation by Texas Safety Foundation.
Finally, one of her greatest joys is that Crystal is happily married to the love of her life Jayson Moffatt, resides in Milford, CT, and has a sweet dog named Kizzy (hound). It is obvious that for this “Safety Diva™” “Environmental Health and Safety is her passion.”
